I just binge watched series one and it made me laugh out loud. Created by Danny Brocklehurst (who worked on those early episodes) and Joe Gilgun (best known for his heartbreaking, hilarious turn as Woody in This is England), it followed the adventures of amiably dodgy working-class Lancastrian Vinnie O’Shea (Gilgun) and his misfit pals in a small northern town. Brilliantly acted, a fabulously witty script, a gang of very naughty boys up to all sorts of wickedness, but so warm hearted and life affirming! What do you know about Vinnie's community? It's that good that I would expect the US to have it's own version in the not too distant future, a la Shameless and The Office. Continuous storylines through each season, while each episode has it's own separate caper. The plots for the opening double bill were entertainingly ludicrous, travelling by way of Shane Meadows and Guy Ritchie and driven along by a kinetic soundtrack ranging from Canned Heat to Cypress Hill. Though they often strive to be moral and loyal, it's within their own set of values that often involves deceit and criminality.
